A Local Jr High School Student Could Win a $10,000 U.S.Savings Bond!
Students in the 6th, 7th, and 8th grades enrolled in public, private or parochial schools or home-schooled programs have the opportunity to compete in the VFW's annual essay competition and win thousands of dollars in U.S. Savings Bonds and an all-expense paid trip to Washington, D.C.
Students compete by writing a 300-400-word patriotic themed essay which is submitted at the Post level. Post winners advance to District and District winners advance to the State competition. The State winners then compete for national prizes and honors. The theme for 2010 - 2011 is "Does Patriotism Still Matter?". Download the entry form below for more details.
All participants and their families will be recognized at a free pizza party at Cheyenne Mountain VFW Post 3917 where the post level winners will be announced.
