Greetings Comrades,

It is January of 2009, the start of another year and I am hopeful for a better one than 2008 was.  Personally 2008 was a difficult year.  It has also been difficult for our post.  Revenue from bingo declined and the canteen has been struggling.  Because of this, starting in January, you will see changes to both our Bingo and canteen operations.
My primary focus for the start of the year is membership.  We are currently just under 90 percent and we need 77 new or reinstate members to make 100 percent.  Not only would I like to see all of our continuous members submit their dues ($28.00) I also encourage all of our members to talk to their neighbors about joining our organization.  After all, membership matters and our members matter most.

Comrades and sisters,

Another new year has begun – may you all have a healthy and safe one.  With the new year, the post will be changing it’s operating hours.  The new hours have been posted in the post for a few weeks and are included in this newsletter.  These are on a trial basis and may change if business dictates so.

The post will be saying goodbye to JD Hill as our canteen manager this month.  Don’t make yourself scarce JD – make sure to stop in now and then to say hi.  His replacement will be in place as soon as possible.

Boy Scout Troop 82 (our chartered unit) will be hosting their annual chili dinner in February.  The scouts use these funds to help defray summer camp costs and/or to replace equipment.  Please show your support for these remarkable young men.

The Cheyenne Mountain Post’s annual Patriot’s Pen Awards Pizza Party was held on the afternoon of November 22nd and marked the end of this year’s Post competition.  This year we received 55 entries and 70% of the participating students and their parents attended the celebration.  The large hall was comfortable full with 110 people.  Seventeen large pizzas later the students were presented their participation certificates and this year’s winners were announced.
