Dear Ladies

 We are off to busy spring. We have several items on our plate for this coming spring and summer and I'm looking forward to working with all of you. Sadly I have to report we lost one of our Sisters, Florence Helton, succumbed to her long illness, 26 January 2010. She will be missed.

 It's not too early to begin thinking about nominations and elections for Auxiliary Officers coming in March and April. Elections will be held at our regular business meeting on 13 April. Ladies, please consider holding an office or becoming a committee chairman. This has been a rewarding year for me and it is an honor to represent each of you. I believe we can all reap the benefits of a strong membership with involvement in our Auxiliary.

Reminder: Committee Chairman please have your reports to me by the end of March so I will have time to compile our Auxiliary Yearly Reports due in April. We've done some great things this year I want to be able to toot our horn!

March 3rd is the anniversary of our National Anthem; without the avid support of our VFW members this legislation would not have come to a reality. Take a few moments to reflect on the meaning of these moving words. Anyone wishing to distribute Buddy Poppies in honor of this occasion please contact our Buddy Poppy Chairman, Angelita Zavala.

March 15th is the deadline for volunteering for the National Veterans Wheelchair Games to be held in Denver CO, 4-9 July. This is our state President's Special Project for this year; if you are able to help in any way, she is calling for around a thousand volunteers to fill a variety of different functions. Volunteer forms will be available at the 9 March regular business meeting.

Susan Havens is recovering well from her heart surgery. She is at the Sunny Vista Rehabilitation Center, 2400 E Cache La Poudre, Colorado Springs in Rm 504. She is enjoying her visits with friends and especially all the cards and letters that are streaming in. Susan has been a driving force in our Auxiliary for many years; let's let her know how much we miss her. She can be reached by phone at (719) 219-0410.

The Children's Easter Egg Hunt will be held on Saturday 3 April from 1:00-3:00 pm (please note the time; as this is a change from years past). Kathy Boatman is looking for volunteers and donations of Stuffed Bunnies. Bunnies can be brought by the Post or collected at the March meeting. Colored eggs and baked goods are also needed. Please bring to the Post by Friday 2 April. Let's give Kathy a big hand she always does a great job with the kids!

Unfortunately, I will miss our March meeting as I will be having surgery on my hand that day, but please come and show your support to our Sr Vice Angelita Zavala; I'll see everyone at the April meeting.
